When Jim Reid Vehicle Sales first opened its doors on the 1st of February 2003, we started with just 12 carefully selected vehicles and a bold vision: to revolutionise the used car-buying experience in Northeast Scotland. Back then, Jim and his devoted wife Gail had to remortgage their home to make their business dream a reality.

Our journey began with a simple mission to offer car buyers in Aberdeenshire and beyond an alternative to impersonal large franchises. We recognised that buying a car in Aberdeen had become a bit too impersonal, instead dominated by big franchises where customers often felt like just another number. 

We wanted to change that, and we like to think we have! We believed then, as we do now, that purchasing a vehicle should be an enjoyable, pressure-free experience guided by genuine care and expertise.

Today, we've grown into one of Scotland's most trusted independent dealerships, serving customers across the entire United Kingdom with the same family values and dedication that marked our humble beginnings.

One of our proudest moments came in 2009 when we moved to our current site in Kintore at Craigearn Business Park where we also opened our Service Centre. It wasn't just about growing bigger – it was about serving you better. Now we could take care of your car through its entire journey with you, from the day you drive it home to every service thereafter. 

This significant milestone allowed us to provide a customer-first approach across the entire vehicle ownership journey, from initial purchase through to maintenance. We’re proud to say that our service team brings the same commitment to excellence that has defined our sales operation from day one.

Industry Recognition:

CAR Star Award from the SMTA - 

We were delighted to be recipients of the CAR Star Award (which stands for Community Activity Recognition) at the Scottish Motor Trade Association in October 2024. Pictured above is Jim Reid’s son, Liam, who proudly collected the award at a ceremony in Glasgow.

Used Car Dealership at the Used Car Awards - 

In November 2022, we were highly commended for Used Car Dealership of the Year (up to 50 Cars) at the annual Used Car Awards organised by Car Dealer Magazine. 

Sales Manager of the Year at the Auto Industry Excellence Awards - 

In 2019, our Sales Director Phil Buchan proudly collected the award for Sales Manager of the Year at the prestigious Auto Industry Excellence Awards.  

Dealer’s Dealer of the Year at the Used Car Awards - 

In November 2015, Jim Reid was awarded Dealer’s Dealer of the Year beating off stiff competition. The annual Used Car Awards is held by Car Dealer Magazine and recognises the very best that the used car industry has to offer. 

Used Car Dealer of the Year at the Used Car Awards - 

In November 2015, Jim Reid was also recognised as Highly Commended for the Used Car Dealer of the Year Award at Car Dealer Magazine’s annual Used Car Awards.

Best Used Car Customer Care at the Used Car Awards - 

In November 2013, Jim Reid Vehicle Sales was awarded the title of Best Used Car Customer Care at the annual Used Car Awards.

Upsales and F&I Performance of the Year at the Used Car Awards - 

In November 2013, the Jim Reid team won the award for Upsales and F&I Performance of the Year at the annual Used Car Awards organised by Car Dealer Magazine. Huge kudos to our wonderful Sales Director, Phil Buchan, for leading our team to winning financial performance.    

Community Recognition:

Scotland Loves Local High Street Hero for the North East Award -
