Making a Difference in Our Community

At Jim Reid Vehicle Sales & Service we consider ourselves more than just a car dealership in Kintore – we are proud to be neighbours, friends, and part of the very fabric that makes our community so special. We’ve always believed that a handshake should mean something, that community spirit really does matter, and that success is measured not just in sales, but in the smiles and friendships we build along the way.

We are firm believers that businesses should play a vital role in shaping the communities they serve. As such, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) isn't just a buzzword for us – it's about recognising that a business like ours has both the opportunity and the responsibility to create positive change. While many companies view CSR as a box-ticking exercise, we see it differently. For us, it's about genuine connection, lasting impact, and being a force for good in our community.

We are advocates for rolling up our sleeves, getting involved, and making real differences in people's lives. Whether it's supporting local initiatives, creating employment opportunities, or stepping in during difficult times, we're committed to being there for our community in ways that matter.

More Than Just a Business

At Jim Reid Vehicle Sales & Service, this commitment isn't driven by corporate policies or PR opportunities – it comes from our hearts. When you've watched families grow up, seen children get their first cars, and shared both celebrations and challenging times with your community, business becomes personal.

We're fortunate to be part of this wonderful community in Aberdeenshire, and we believe that success brings with it a responsibility to give back. This philosophy has guided our business since day one, shaping not just what we do, but who we are.

A Hometown Hero's Story

We were positively stunned when Jim was named ‘High Street Hero for the North East’ by Scotland Loves Local in October 2024. While Jim would be the last person to seek recognition, this award celebrates something he's passionate about – making his local town of Kintore shine. Through the 'It's Your Neighbourhood' project, you'll often find Jim and a dedicated team of volunteers out there in all weathers, sprucing up bus shelters, tending to green spaces, and giving our public areas the TLC they deserve.

One of Jim's proudest achievements has been breathing new life into the historic Millennium Stone at Kintore Town House. What started as a simple idea turned into a labour of love, with Jim personally restoring and hand-painting this cherished local landmark. It's just one example of how we believe in preserving the heart and soul of our community.

Celebrating Community Spirit

October 2024 brought another proud moment when we received the SMTA CAR Star Award (Community Activity Recognition) at the Scottish Motor Trade Association ceremony in Glasgow. Jim's son Liam represented our team, and seeing the next generation carry forward our values of community service meant the world to us. This award isn't just a pat on the back – it's a reminder of why we do what we do: supporting local groups, nurturing community clubs, and helping individuals who make Kintore special.

Our Charitable Impact

Over the years, the Jim Reid team has reached out to support numerous local causes that make a real impact in our community. From transforming our used car showroom into a Christmas gift collection point to getting our hands dirty in memorial gardens to helping deliver thousands of food parcels – these aren't just charitable acts, they're moments where we've had the privilege of seeing our community come together and support one another.

Every project we take on is treated with the same dedication and personal touch that we're known for in our day-to-day business. Whether it's supporting bereaved families through Aberdeen SANDS, helping NHS heroes through NERVS, or joining forces with the Russell Anderson Foundation to tackle food poverty, we believe in showing up when it matters and staying involved for the long haul.

Bringing Christmas Joy to Local Children

Christmas 2024 saw our showroom transform into a collection hub for the Mission Christmas - Cash For Kids campaign. There's nothing quite like knowing you're helping local children wake up to presents on Christmas morning. The generosity of our community never fails to amaze us, and we're proud to play our part in making the festive season special for everyone.

Supporting Families Through Difficult Times

In March 2024, our team took on a particularly meaningful project at the Aberdeen SANDS baby garden in Hazlehead Cemetery. We carefully restored and repainted planters around their memorial benches, creating peaceful spaces where bereaved families can find moments of quiet reflection. It's the kind of work that reminds us how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in people's lives.

Tackling Food Poverty Together

2023 saw us join forces with the Russell Anderson Foundation in their incredible mission to support Aberdeen families. Together, we helped deliver over 10,000 food parcels to local families and schools. It was hard work, but seeing the impact on our community made every minute worthwhile.

Supporting Our NHS Heroes

When the amazing volunteers at North East Rider Volunteers Scotland (NERVS) needed support in 2020, we didn't hesitate to step up. These incredible people work tirelessly supporting NHS Grampian, and we were honoured to help them continue their vital work for our healthcare services.

Going the Extra Mile

Sometimes it's the unexpected moments that show what community spirit is all about. Back in August 2015, when we heard about an Aberdeen football fan whose car had been vandalised, we knew we had to help. It's these small acts of kindness that build the strong community bonds we value so much.
